Updating the Discover system satnav from the web.

Post by TuffGnarl »

Has anybody done this?

I'm curious as to whether or not I need to buy a new SD card or can I use the one that came with the car and back up what's on it first for good measure.

Also, is there a tutorial?

Hi
This is the second time I have added to this thread. I have no idea why it is that VW make it so complex simply to update their Satnav (I have Discover - NOT Pro)

However, since my last post -the system has changed.

The updates are free for the warranty period (three years) thereafter you will need to purchase a new SD card with the latest map.

Map updates are released twice a year - at approx. May & November.

I hope the attached link will offer all the help you will need.

I have a 2013 Rocco I have newly purchased and LOVE IT! but I don't think the Navigation is been updated since the car rolled out the factor and where I live in a new build house Navigation thinks I live in a field...

I have seen I can download the update from VW website (thanks to the link above) but is there a specific type of memory card I need to get? obviously a 16gb as file to download is 12.1gb.

Any help on this would be great as I don't want to have to buy a "VW approved" SD costing me quite a bit when I have tools to download myself.

Hello

Do you not have the original SD card that came with your Sat-Nav ?

Yes, back it up first and then download the new data onto it..

Yes, its a fiddley job - but it works - and you will not have to purchase a new card.
