Retro Fit Folding Door Mirrors

Post by cirkz »

Hi Guys,

After owning the Roc for 1 year now, I am feeling the urge to have electric folding door mirrors fitted.

I think it is fair to say that the Roc is a wide vehicle and there have been numerous situations that I have been in where I have thought ‘wouldn’t it be useful to have folding mirrors right now’.

Does anyone know where I can get them fitted? I know my dealership do not retro fit this option and I have had one quote of £1295! :eyepop:

I’m not sure I would have the balls to fit them myself!

Hi Shaun,

I did view your guide before I posted on this forum. I must admit I am tempted to follow suit, but I’m pretty useless when it comes to modding and I don’t trust myself, especially with modding a £25k car.

When you order the mirrors do they come in a set colour or do they do them in various colours? My scirocco is black.

Cheers

Jonny

Which is a black finish right?

What tools would I need for the job?

Yes a shade of black, no real special tools are needed for the physical side but the door covers do take some yanking off, you would need VCDS to reprogram the controllers.

Presumably you have covers on your existing mirrors, can you not just re-use these and snap them onto the new folding housings? Expect the housing and cover can be ordered separately ?
08/11 - 12/13 2.0 TSI R DSG, Black / Black Vienna
01/09 - 08/11 2.0 TSI GT DSG, Black / Truffle Vienna

Black is the new Black....

So would I need to install VCDS to a laptop and purchase the necessary cable? How much is the software and where would the cable plug into on the vehicle?

I’m really demonstrating my ignorance now. :(

It would be better to get a local member with VCDS to do it for you as its going to cost nearly as much as the mirrors to buy.

I have installed mirrors from Passat CC, there is more work, but it fits. Now I have one problem with wiring for Memory function I think, because in VCDS signal of X position is displayed on block for Y and Y on block X. Maybe CC have small difference in wiring. Puddle lights and Folding work great. If I install mirror motor with potentiometers on driver side will be both going down od reverse?
