Hi All,
Sorry for the long post... I really hope someone can help me!
During lock down I had a couple of backfires In my '12 plate Scirocco TSI GT, followed by misfiring and the engine light came on.
It also idled high from a cold start.
I took it to my nearest garage (not used before), they checked the coil & sparks which were fine and said the codes were inconclusive and couldn't help without spending lots of money.
Took to my Dad's who also checked coils, sparks and PCV and thought it was PCV. Changed PCV but no difference.
When lock down eased I booked it in to my usual VW garage (not main dealer) and they have now checked & re-checked:-
Spark plugs - coked but fine
Coil packs
PCV Valve
Coolant Sensor
Airflow meter
Checked timing chain (just within tolerance)
Checked compression
Checked wiring to injectors and coil packs
Replaced 1st Injector that was wetter and more coked than the others
It runs sweetly from cold (still high idle initially from cold) but as soon as it's warm it is misfiring on all cylinders and the longer they have it the worse it is getting.
They are saying the only thing left to try is to change the chain but it's a £600 bill and they're not convinced it will solve the issue.
Any ideas/advice we haven't tried will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading xx

Re: HELP!!
I had similar issues
Fault codes 2178 & 2188 I think, basically running lean on & off idle
Did loads of work, pcv, pcv breather, lamda sensor & high pressure fuel rail sensor
Before finally fixing it with a high pressure fuel pump

Re: HELP!!
Hi Andy b,
The only fault codes I've had were P0172 which is running rich and P0301. Neither of which are now showing...

Re: HELP with '12 plate Scirocco TSI GT
I had a reoccurring 0172 code before the 2178/88 codes
Fuel pump under/near the fuel tank fixed that for me

Hi Andy b,
Just wanted to say thanks for your help, swapping out the pump seems to have sorted it finally.

Cool, glad to help
Which fuel pump was replaced? High pressure one or sender by the fuel tank?
