SCIROCCO 1.4 TSI 2010 122BHP

So recently ive been hearing a ticking noise and thought its the timing chain but my mileage is 94K and chains are supposed to last the life of the car. Ive spoken to a few people but ive been told prices of 800+. Anyone know if the timing chain HAS to happen or is it just tensioners?

For what is worth, when I changed the timing chain on my 1.4 TSI 160HP, the chain was (greatly) stretched, yet the chain sound on cold start was sporadic at best
