Why doesn't it pop?!

Post by Billc »

I've had my 2015 R-Line DSG 220hp for just over a year having previously spent 6 years with a 210hp DSG GT. In the 210 like "all" petrol DSG's the exhaust would happily pop on upshifts when pushing it and with judicious use of the right foot I could make it pop at will, anytime I liked. With the 220hp it just will not pop, at all, ever, however much I try.

Why doesn't the 220hp engine do it? Or is it just mine? It's totally standard, no mods at all. Does anyone have a 220hp (R-line, GT or GTS) DSG that does pop on upshifts?

It's not exactly important but by heck I miss it! :?

Very strange.. Maybe they disabled on newer models? From what I've gathered it does let go a small amount of fuel into the hot exhaust which causes the pop right?

I've been out today trying to detect a basey pop but can't hear anything. We need a tunnel where I live (Northants) but there's not much chance of that happening. I'm convinced it's not popping at all. Great shame :(
