EGR Cooler replaced...now I’ve got different smoke?!?!?

Hi,

Long story short my cars been smoking and losing some coolant and other problems for about 4 monthish, nothing on the dipstick or oilcap,

The garage put it down to either the head gasket or EGR cooler so decided to go with the EGR cooler cheapast od the two. Got it from the garage after work today around 6.30. Guy at the garage said it didn’t smoke when he started it up and parked it and to see how I get on.

So got about a mile away from the garage and come to a little standstill traffic and when I set off again it started smoking but it seems a different kind of smoke now. If I’ve had a failing EGR for all them months could it just be a build up of coolant/crap that’s just cleaning out. When the car came under pressure up hill it was thick smoke and I couldn’t see out of my window.

I’ve read online that the coolant left in the exhaust can take a while to clear. Just hoping someone can shed some light. I’ll give the garage a ring tomorrow.

Thanks for any help

Little update and it’s not a good one......

Got the car back off the garage no smoke until about a mile down the road and the same thing happened as before.

Got the car home and then went back out about 10 minutes later and when I came to fire it up it sort of struggled to fire up first time so I took it for a drive over the bypass and back and was smoking a little over the bypass came up the hill near my house and when I put my foot down and the turbo was kicking it it started smoking quite badly (couldn’t see behind me) was thinking it could be unburned coolant in the exhaust so got home and parked up.

The next morning started the car and it smoked quite badly so decided to drive on and the car revved a bit on its own then calmed and then literally two seconds later revved it’s arse off and smoke everywhere. Instantly turned the engine off and it ran on for a second or two afterwards and under the bonnet was smoking.

Called the garage bit and they’ve recovered it but haven’t had a chance to look at it yet. But I’m thinking it’s the Turnbo and so do they could there be any reason the new EGR would cause the turbo to go it the other one was knackered like the turbo was over compensating?

Thanks for any help
