ECU issue

Post by Liamcatt »

Hi

Just had the car washed and drove home fine no issues, gone to get back in about an hour later and car won’t start or attempt to turn over

When I go to turn the ignition on the electrics go funny I can hear the doors lock and electrics cut and the dash tells me to put in p/n position and also airbag fault and abs fault

Going to leave it to dry out however anybody had this issue before for me to speed the wait up to?

Cheers

Are you v sure the battery isn't flat?

A flat battery on these cars can send things haywire.

I very much doubt the cause of your issue was having the car washed as the main electrical components are all protected. Unless of course someone stupidly took a hose a sprayed it around the engine bay targeting the electrical components.

Sometimes the seal on the ecu space gets bad and starts leaking.

Battery is almost certainly dead - do check terminals are tight first but you have all the symptoms of a dead battery on a VAG car.

The factory battery is usually only good for 3-4 years, infact most batteries in these cars are dead after 3 years if you mainly do short journeys.

Hero’s

Had all sorts going through my head on what the issue could be!

Awful for the car to act like that on a flat battery I’m sure cowboy garages have had a couple of paydays from this

Cheers fellas jumped the battery and took it for a long drive will see how it gets on before replacing as I had the WiFi obd plugged in so removed that when not in use
