Hi Roy,
I have the Gen3 climatronic panel installed in my car and it works without any problems.
A friend of mine bought the 3AA907044M unit and tried to install in his 2011 Scirocco 1.4 GT; all leds are working and all keys are lighting when you press it without any faults on the VCDS too and the A/C messages appears on the radio. But the A/C compressor isn't working or start.
But, it work when we tried my panel or when we tried the stock Rocco panel.
I don't know if there is something should be done or not.
Thanks
