Its TPI 2025969/2
If they say its not on their system they are lying or don't know how to use the system.

There is also an audio file attached to the TPI so they should be able.

Technical product information Transaction No.: 2025969/2
Transmission: noises when pressing clutch pedal
Release date: 12-Jan-2012

I'd have been boiling over if I were you!! LOL - diagnostics tool for a clutch fault?!?! I think they underestimate the knowledge of some of their customers.

I find that it depends on the dealer sometimes, have you called VW customer services?!?! I know you said you are in contact with VW, but it might not be their customer service dept. I mean, you actually have warranty as well!

The problem is they can still claim wear and tear if they drop the clutch, BECAUSE they say the TPI isnt applicable to your chasis... I dont even get that - the engine and drivetrain are the blooming same

My car is 2010 - June, so almost 5 years! the problem isn't age related as you said; some cars have shown it quite early.
Mine was prominent in winter months and cold mornings... I am certain it had been going on for over a year.

As I said before, I think it does depend on your dealer... even though I say that, my dealer said it was wear and tear, till I went to VW. I went armed to with knowledge. I let them know I knew what I was talking about. I think in the end, the dealership was very good because I always took my car to them.

I'd keep pressing if I were you - all the info you need is in the thread discussion. Make sure you keep pressing them - does it have a full service history? has it been outside the VW network for sales etc? that makes a big difference

I dont envy your situation, and I am also surprised VW UK fobbed you off. I reckon they have been receiving a few of these complaints recently, and have possibly had new guidelines on "how to deal with customers complaining of clutch noise"... I'd be tempted to press forward if I were you, but I understand how you wouldnt wanna be footing that bill. I am sure they will find the part number for your throw-out bearing is the defective one etc etc.

If you dont mind keeping it, I would just deal with it till you get a new motor.... Stuff like that would make me rethink VW too, but it's ultimately up to you if you wanna continue with them.

See my latest update on this with mine...VWUK told me they WOULD cover it if it had been bought thru a VW dealer and had VW warranty....it's an expensive fault to get sorted otherwise....1500 Quid at a main dealer....!

Cthejackal did you ever get it sorted?

Mine was diagnosed successfully for the first time today. I told then to pull away in 2nd gear and it happened first time.
Last year it went in but they couldn't diagnose it.

Its booked in to have the gearbox dropped and pictures sent to VW Warranty to check its covered.
Not sure how they can tell if its wear and tear or the part issue via a picture...

Got mine sorted all under warranty with no questions asked.
Keep trying! I gave them the tpi number and printed it out. Gave it to the mechanic they never argued once! :)

Has anyone had any success with getting VW to contribute towards the repair cost on an older car that is well out of warranty? My car is coming up 10 years old and has just passed 70,000 miles and I have the same issue. I imagine it'd be a long shot, but just thought I'd ask before shelling out a load of money.

PS Does anyone know what the full repair cost would be, approximately?

Thanks.
