Hi

Does anyone elses Sciroccos back end lose it on corners? i dont mean going fast either just in general.

Never had the back end break away or come close on bends or smallish roundabouts taken quite quickly :D .

Nope never had the back end out properly even throwing the car around trying to see if it will slide! No luck especially with the stability control keeping it all in check!

Check your tyre pressures assuming you don't have ditchfinders fitted on the rear☺

I do get lift off oversteer but only when I'm trying.

agree with cuprabob i get lift off oversteer if I'm giving it some , absolutely terrible if you're a bit over enthusiastic on a wet roundabout

Cheers for the replies. Tyres are half worn so shouldnt be a problem. Tyre pressures are ok (Ive always put 32 in) should that be different? Its a bit like oversteer tbh but surely shouldnt happen when im not giving it some

I felt a little too much oversteer when I bought my used Scirocco. When in the rain I didn't have to drive to that fast to feel the back end loose in small roundabouts... I checked the tires and the rear ones were already "outdated", the previous owner bought some used tires and, although they still had a nice tread, the grip was awful. Got some nice tires on the back axle and the car is now perfect, never felt any oversteer again.. :)

Might have to check out what Tyres are on as ive not checked the make of them. May just be crap ones

I never over steered, even when i tried on snow. However, a few years ago i had fitted some cheapo chinese tyres to my previous car and my God! I was doing 360 pirouettes every time it rained.

Wow, no never.

I'd check the tread on the tyres and the PSI of the tyres, VW suggest way more than I'd put in myself, pretty sure mine are 32PSI.

Were you accelerating hard and then lifted off mid-bend?

No Monkey81. It was coming off a roundabout into a slight left hand bend. Mine are 32 but apparently VW suggest 35. Gonna get round to putting some in tonight to see if that helps

Check the label in your fuel filler flap - like most VW's . The specified tyre pressures are listed there. I ran mine at 32psi for about 1000 miles ( I was experimenting with the handling & ride) . The ride was less harsh but when I re checked the tread depths they were showing signs of under-inflation. I soon went back to 35psi all round.
