It starts to get really interesting with the 4wd retrofit.
Fingers crossed to sort out all issues :)

Keep us updated, very nice project! And your last work is also awsome. Have you solved the engine running too rich with a new mapping?

It was interesting for since I start building it and gaining experience day after day.

I don’t expect too much issues with the AWD swap, we did it several times on MK5s and MK6s but it will be first time for Rocco and I am expecting to have only the tank fitting issue.

Thanks mat and I always appreciate your support.
Yeah! I just solved it today but I didn’t drive the car yet, I just flashed a new DM file and the engine started normally. I will post the video soon because the Tapatalk doesn’t allow video posting anymore.
I will complete the wastegate adaptation and MBC installation then I will start do data logging in order to complete the pump gas tuning. After the car runs probably I will install the Aquamist WMI system and start working on it and tuning the car accordingly.

Most probably the AWD conversion will start on May 2018 if everything run smoothly.

Engine startup after DM fix file

Morning Guys,

Below the initial startup video (10-FEB) after flashing the DM fix SW;
Initial startup after DM fix file
https://vimeo.com/255338382" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is the second day try (11-FEB), and I drove the car yesterday for few minutes, and it was okay.
https://vimeo.com/255337987" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is from today early startup (12-FEB), and the engine shutdown after few seconds as before but the engine didn't take long to startup, and there are no engine faults in VCDS!
I had to keep pressing the acceleration paddle increasing the RPM above 1000rpm for a while then it works.
https://vimeo.com/255339278" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I communicated it to Bronson and see what he will say.

Also, the exhaust temperature is going high quickly and stayed in high temp more than previous file. I guess this should be fixed after doing the data-logging and start tuning the car accordingly.

Realy Impressive. I don't have experience with engine mapping so im jalous :)
How does it work with the DM files? Can you adjust the fuel quantity, ignition time and angle for the whole rpm range? Sounds like the fuel quantity too is low now?
You can also raise the idle rpm a little to get it smoother.
Interesting what the cause is.

I am jealous too as I don’t have experience with VCDS and coding [emoji6]
DM files are very good and professional, it’s not adjustable and you need to do data logging and send to them then they provide you the revised file if necessary.
I think this issue is related to cold start with IE intake manifold and the idle need to be slightly increased

EFR Oil Restrictor OEM vs TurboZentrum

Going to replace the OEM by the TurboZentrum 0.7mm one.

My IE Cam gear is broken, replace it by the OEM one.

Anyway, I never used it to advance or retard the camshaft, just fancy piece.

I wish I know how to let the trunk open with the hatch pop like MKV, MK6, and MK7 ..
I tried the MKV and MK6 hatch pop kits and no one of it works.. and the MK7 hatch pop shocks is longer than the Rocco ones!
I know that there is special springs need to be installed on the OEM Rocco trunk shocks but I can’t find the details about it.

CRAZY Thoughts

I am thinking to do a CRAZY thing.
As you know I bought the Golf R AWD system and I am planning to install it this month (hopefully), I am thinking why I can't use the benefits of the AWD to go for more power!

What about having GTX3076R Gen2 or GTX3576R Gen2!
https://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbo...tx3076r-gen-ii" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
https://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbo...tx3576r-gen-ii" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I read an articles about how the GTX3076R specs is mis-matches! I am thinking to go for PagParts kit with GTX3576R Gen2 V-Band, 0.83 AR, V-Band Ni-Resist.

I know that the fueling is the big concern but what about going for dynodrome fueling parts.

Stage 2 tfsi injectors (700 + hp)
http://www.dynodrome.gr/?product=sta...injectors700hp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Rail valve 175 bar
http://www.dynodrome.gr/?product=rail-valve-175-bar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All thoughts are most welcome.

Okay, just new update, the engine is broken!

Car was working perfectly till 3 weeks ago, then the oil consumption become strange, the engine lost one litter up sudden then I add it!

Last week I was going the data logging on 4th gear and during the first log I found a huge black smoke from the exhaust in the back of the car and heard a strange sound in the engine and the car stopped after 300m and that’s it!

As you can see from the pics, the piston in second cylinder is missing! And the block itself is scratched. Moreover the valves are not okay too!

I will check and inspect the turbo to make sure nothing happened to it too!

Honestly I didn’t expect that the engine is damaged because everything inside it is new and forged!!

I don’t know what I will do now because my brain is out of service for the time being.

It was built perfectly that’s why I don’t know the reason yet!

I am preparing the car to be able to drive then I will work on the broken engine soon.

Beast!

Good luck with getting her back on the road

You can go for CDL engine if you don’t wanna forge soon; I will go this direction with limited power till I see what went wrong exactly in the previous engine and see what I can do and afford.

With CDL engine you can achieve 450whp on stock engine

Ive got ea888 Gen TSI engine at the moment and ive been told they are good for 440ish bhp so no point changing to a CDL engine. Plus im not sure what would be involved with the Engine change, even though its a simular engine.

Im tempted by the hybrid turbo route. may see whats available in the next month or so

You can go for APR GTX kit or TTE, both will change the car completely
