Did they change the Fuel filter during the service? common when you take out the diesel fuel filter it will spill some diesel out, Dry it off and see if it returns is the only advice I can honestly give.

Sounds likely if the chain jumped it can destroy the engine, as the timing goes out of sync then valves hit pistons and bang its gone!
