Surprised there is no codes stored, although it depends on what type of code reader you used. Some of the cheaper ones don't display all the codes.

EPC light normally refers to the fly by wire throttle therefore areas to look at are the throttle body and the throttle pedal.

I wouldn't dismiss them completely but you just need to check out a couple of things regarding clearance and centre bore diameter.

Yes, you could add 8mm/10mm spacers all round which would effectively give you an offset of ET42/40, so only 1mm difference from OEM. Sounds like it as I'm pretty sure the wipers and washers don't normally work with the bonnet up as there is the risk of the wipers fouling the bonnet.
