Re: Engine identification + intake
Just for anyone else looking, although the CUL engine has different turbo pipework routing and if going for a full induction kit you need the special one mentioned above, if just using a panel filter then it is the same as the other 2.0 models, meaning pretty much any will fit. I fitted a reusable R...

Re: How to tell if I once had headlight washer jets?
Also washer bottle would have two pumps with pipework to the front. Of course, after a front end bump they could have all been removed and replaced with non headlight washer parts! I bought a non headlight washer equipped 2017 plate last year (cat N) and had to replace the washer bottle as it smashe...

Re: Replaced engine
Those codes look to be water pump and particulate filter related. Both things would have been removed/refitted as part of th engine replacement - if the codes were not present previously then it could be related to the that work. What has the person who did the install said about the clutch and vibr...

For anyone with the later Discover head units, not the early RCD models, this is the adapter I used:

IMG_20231003_215340_(768_x_1024_pixel).jpg Oh, and be careful, if you leave the hazard warning/airbag warning light switch disconnected while you test things, be warned that you will get an airbag warning code that you will need to clear - having the button/warning light above the central air vents...

Re: installing a reverse camera through number plate light area
The number plate light and the bulb/bulb holder separate from each other. You should be able to twist the base of the bulb holder and it will release from the light unit. The bulb also disconnects from the bumper loom. I have just fitted almost exactly the same camera unit.. it needed a little bit o...

Re: Spark Plugs - Gap and Parts Numbers
A 3.5mm gap is frankly enormous. Traditional gaps were given in thousands of an inch. I have never heard of anything requiring a gap that big.
Most plugs these days come pre-set.

Re: Facelift rear parking sensor fault
I confirmed that voltage was getting to the rear sensors via the loom and, not having any easy way of testing the sensors (short of pulling the front bumper off and plugging each on in turn, since the front works perfectly) I decided to replace them all and buy a new rear loom as well. I didn't want...

The other single wire is for my reversing camera, btw - so nothing to do with the parking sensors. Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Re-applied sikaflex sealant to the rear edge of the passenger side R sideskirts, as it had started to come away from the body a little, just in front of the rear arch. Also looking at trying to track down the source of my rear parking sensor fault (fault since I bought it - even with a new set of se...

Facelift rear parking sensor fault
Since I bought my 2017 GT, the rear parking sensors have shown a fault - I've tried two sets of parking sensors (loom + sensors + number plate bulbs, complete), and the head unit still shows it as faulty. VCDS shows no power to any of the sensors, and therefore no calibration data/readings from any ...

Re: 2015 Onwards GTS vs GT 2.0 TSI
Yes, the late GT/R-Line/GTS all use the EA888.3 engine (CUL engine code).
Difference with engine is ECU tune (nothing mechanical).
Exterior it's the stripes and badges.
Interior is seats/door card trim, from what I can gather.
So not a lot, really.

I'd say it needs a belt change at 5 years, or should have had one done.

Re: EA113 CDLK Timing belt or chain?
Be careful with statements like "check the timing belt" - you really cannot properly inspect a timing belt whilst it is on the car (there's no way you can visually inspect every tooth on the belt). It either needs changing due to the schedule (age/mileage) or it doesn't.

Re: EA113 CDLK Timing belt or chain?
Virtually every single car with belt driven camshafts will state mileage or age, whichever comes first.
Remember it's a fibre and rubber belt - it deteriorates with age and use, just like any other moving, flexible, rubber part.
