Re: Longlife oil and 20000 miles changes

Personally, a combination of a high powered car and mainly short journeys mean that I wouldn't go longer than 12 months without changing the oil. My May 2016 R only has 9200 miles but I've booked it in for it's second service in 2 weeks time so that will be it's second oil change as well. I do longe...

Re: New tyres

I didn't notice any difference from the Pirellis that were on before though it's not exactly a quiet car so there may or may not have been a difference.

Grip is excellent though

Re: VCDS

Depending on what you're after - if you know someone with Carista or you buy it yourself then you can change the display to show the big digital speedo

Re: Digital speed indication - yes or no

You can set the MFD to display the big digital speedo in MPH with Carista which is a paid for app for your phone plus an OBDII dongle

Re: Collect my 2016 Scirocco R 2016 caddy white DSG next wee

Does anyone know of any nice but subtle front lips spoiler and possibly rear roof spoiler extension for the Rocco. There are some out there but I cannot find anything subtle that doesn't spoil the look of the car and make it look chavvy. I never liked the stainless steel look wing mirror covers so ...

Re: Black rear bonnet badge face-lift

Apparently the majority of the rear badges are 90mm but if you have one of the last couple of years models then for some reason they are 85mm. I've measured mine and it's 85mm. I'm still unable to to find a replacement but I've bought a front one in the meantime. Just need to wait for a warm day to ...

Re: Black rear bonnet badge face-lift

There are sellers from time to time with the black bonnet badges but they don't seem to have any at the moment. Well, the listings are there but when they don't have any they bump up the price rather than ending the listing so they show as £112 each to stop people trying to buy them I take it you wi...

Re: Replacement Tyres

I was looking at those Avons when I needed a set a few weeks ago but the garage I get my tyres from told me that lot of the local guys with Golf Rs were using Falken Azenis FK510. I checked out the reviews and decided to go with them. I have 19"s and they came in at exactly £100 each http://www...

Re: Torque steer compensation

I saw this option listed the last time I used Carista but didn't know what it was. I've done a fair bit of reading since then and it does sound like a good thing to try as sometimes under hard acceleration I don't want to take my hand off the wheel to change gear but what I can't see is if it could ...

Re: New tyres

I got a pair of these on the front a couple of weeks ago after being recommended them. I usually go to the same place and the guy I spoke with told me that a lot of the guys with Golf Rs have been fitting them. We haven't had the weather to see what they are like for grip but they were decent enough...

Re: Did the R ever come with 17" wheels?

I read something online yesterday stating that you could order 17"s fitted with winter tyres, even for the R but I don't know if that was only in certain parts of mainland Europe where they are compulsory

Re: SNOW!

My one ihas probably been the best car in the snow I've owned. I've got brand new Falkens on the front and 7000 mile P Zeros on the back. Apart from today - we've had that really powdery snow so you have a layer of compacted snow with the powdery stuff on top making it extra slippy. If you take it e...

Re: Exhaust gas warning light on!

i assume your car is out of warrenty?? If I was you I would be getting quotes from a VAG specialist because dealers charge WAY too much. As for fuel, yeah you should be using 98RON upwards on the 2.0T Petrol. Yeah mate, the car is from 2009 it's out of warranty. I used 98 when I first got the car b...

Re: Scirocco R Servicing

I can appreciate that going the DIY route is a lot cheaper but this is the most expensive car that I have bought, it's just coming up for 2 years old and I lack the skills to confidently do anything more than change the air & pollen filters. The dealer I bought the car from (not the one where it...

Scirocco R Servicing

I've hunted high and low and can't find an answer to this. Last August I was fortunate to find an EX VW Group R with 3700 miles on the clock at 15 months old. It had it's first service done in June at the VW dealer so I was expecting a major service this year but the MFD is telling me that it is onl...

Re: Bad Wheel Wobble 70mph plus

Hopefully to answer both of your posts but you can't be sure that the tracking is ok unless you have it checked - if I drive on a straight road at any speed, as long as the road is level and there is no wind my car drives straight as have all of the cars that I've owned. Even brand new alloys and ty...

Re: Bad Wheel Wobble 70mph plus

I would be concerned about using the wrong bolts for the wheels - if you use the ones on the bottom in the picture when it should be the ones above them then there is a chance they could work loose and end up chewing the alloy due to having to retighten them. You don't want them coming lose at any s...
