Re: Oil change
Does your oil light come on when the whole dashboard illuminates? When you first turn the engine on? I've never had the oil light come on after changing oil.

Re: REAR BRAKE DISCS AND PADS CHANGE .2LTR 2009 TSI
I would use a proper wind back tool. Its hard enough with that never mind improvising. Also I bought a cheap wind back tool at first and found it didn't fit within the caliper. Im guessing your pads are quite low? So you'll probably struggle with a cheap one. I had access to a professional set throu...

Re: Timing belt and water pump?
vw also offer price matching within a certain radius of the dealership (think it's 5 mile but not 100%). You just have to show them a quote and it has to be using genuine VW parts that are quoted for. But could save you a few quid and then you get a dealer service. Just something worth noting. Mine ...

Re: Where do I stand on returning my scirocco?
As LHM said, the dampers are controlled via the ECU and depending on what mode you have chosen relates to the damping setting i.e. making the suspension firmer on sport mode. As the dampers are controlled by the ECU their settings are adjusted individually also depending on the feedback from the roa...

Re: Where do I stand on returning my scirocco?
Andyy, there isn't a law for warranty but as I mentioned in my first post he has the consumer rights act on his side. This allows 6 months for any repairs to be carried out. Additionally the onus is on the dealer to prove the fault wasn't there/developing before sale, which helps massively in gettin...

Re: Where do I stand on returning my scirocco?
On an additional note, any repairs conducted not by the dealer you bought it from are not covered under the consumer rights as they could argue that they didnt have chance to diagnose the original problem. So I would opt to go to the dealer and have them do a full diagnosis and conduct repairs befor...

Re: Where do I stand on returning my scirocco?
Had a similar issue with my sisters car. Purchased it and then alot of problems arose a week later. As its a dealer you have the consumer rights act on your side. Basically you are entitled to the following: 0 - 30 days: Refund, repair or replacement ... your choice not theirs so if they try and str...

Re: Exhaust gas warning light on!
Ive seen those carista adaptors advertised about. Any chance you could publish what customisation are available with it for the Scirocco once you've used it? Id be interested in getting one if its worthwhile, as i want to do a couple of little mods (gauge sweep, large display MPH, etc...). Would be ...

Re: Brake "clunk"
That seems quite quick for the pad to be sticking to the disc. Usually that happens after a few days of standing but not had it happen overnight. Could be the discs are a bit pitted and retain surface rust easily. Its not really much to worry about as you'll remove the surface rust once you've used ...

Re: Brake "clunk"
If you do have the time to have a look. What I did notice was the pads were stuck quite firmly in the calipers because of corrosion/general crap build up. I would suggest just taking the current pads out and giving the caliper a nice clean up with a wire brush and re-greasing the sliding section and...

Re: Brake "clunk"
Yeah its quite common. I could never work out where the noise was coming from but I was convinced it was my brakes. The fronts were practically new so I decided to do the backs first because at worst I had new rear brakes pads... luckily that solved it and been quiet ever since. I cant stand knocks/...

Re: Brake "clunk"
I had the exact same noise. Mine was the cause of the rear brake pads being worn with about 30/40% left. When put in reverse you could hear the clunk then when back into drive the same clunk again. Its the pad moving inside the caliper. I ended up changing my rear pads and the noise has been gone ev...

Re: Someone reversed into me - Front Bumper/Headlight Damage
Id keep getting a few more quotes yet then you can see what the price really should be. Seems quite high still £800. Id expect more like £400+VAT or something, doesn't look like you'll need any replacement bits so should just be a case of cleaning up and painting. I had someone hit the side of my ca...

Re: Need info on insurance and mods
I was 24 when i first got my Scirocco and I found and actually renewed with direct line with their young drivers box thing. Its a black box but not a traditional style one where your premium is affected throughout the year. You basically get around a 30% discount straight away to use their box, whic...

Re: What size tyres have you fitted?
Unless im misunderstanding the post but the 235 section of the code is the width of the tyre. Your rim is made to accommodate a tire of with 235mm, if you put a 225mm wide tyre on you will essentially be created a 10mm difference between tyre and rim, which could potentially cause all sorts of issue...

Re: Trust Building Measure
Im the same, I love my car and would be pissed off if I got it "fixed" and it didnt work the same. Its a no-win risk, either it works and its the same for me, or something goes wrong and im unhappy.
