Re: New Scirocco owner, few issues.

Have the same issue with my 66 plate scirocco. Had it from new as a factory build, never had anything wet in the boot. Just seems to be a poor choice of metal. Maybe they were supposed to be plated or covered with a plastic sleeve and the factory or designers forgot because it's a hidden part.

Re: Question - factory xenon -quick question for you guys i

There was a stage where they were on the option list and then disappeared, just before I ordered my vehicle (June 2009). I'm not sure whether this was a component supply issue or a technical problem at that time. On one price list the option wasn't available and the updated one the dealer had just r...

Re: Question - factory xenon -quick question for you guys i

It's an expensive option (and even more expensive now than when I got my vehicle), but it you drive a lot at night and on unlit roads then I would say the benefits are worth it. The high / low beam gives a very good cut off on low and a good spread on high beam. The auto height adjustment does const...

Re: Bluetooth Music

My 59 (MY2010) car has the factory fitted premium Bluetooth kit. Sits underneath the drivers seat. It supports remote SIM for Nokia phones but not much else, and will not support Bluetooth audio. It's good if you have a compatible phone but useless if you don't. Hence why I believe later models had ...

Re: Optical distortion on the left side of the windscreen

It's all down to the quality of the glass manufacture and the difference between an acceptable and rejected sheet. Looking at a greater angle will magnify the effects hence why the screen probably looks worse the further away you are from the area you are looking through. If there is noticable disto...

Re: Tin Can Rattle through 2500RPM 2.0 TSI GT

Wastegate on turbo I believe. Mines been like it for 18 months, no better, no worse but always at the same engine revs. Covered somewhere on other topics here and was thought to be a heatshield at first. You're not alone. I think these things end up being known as 'characteristics' rather than fault...

Re: External hard drive

Yes it will play them via the USB connector, but not if you put them onto an SD card and plug directly into the head unit (that only supports MP3).

Re: External hard drive

Just copied the music onto the drive and plugged it in. Did not need to re-format. Your music will show up by artist and then album, exactly as per the directory list when you copied it. So it's fine for choosing artist, then playing one or all albums by that artist. It will play in the normal album...

Re: External hard drive

Samsung S1 Mini 120GB as found on another thread here. Was about £55 from amazon at the time. Used for about a year now and great for storing all my music. Plays from where it left off, even if you remove it from the car and add some more music to it. Only thing it won't do is random play. I've just...

Re: SD card

Not sure if it will recognise the SD card via a USB adapter / reader but worth a try if you already have the adapter. If not then I would suggest using a USB memory stick and copying your music files onto that.

Re: Auto-lock after x MPH.

Set mine to autolock and then one day noticed that it didn't do it when I drove away. Had to change the setting again. Car had recently been serviced although I asked the dealer about software updates and none were done. Either they managed to reset the setting or it did it by itself but it's stayed...

Re: ..is it 'cos I is fick?

The 16 digit code got me too when I first picked up my car, as pass codes are usually just 4 digits. Also to note that if you do change your phone (to a newer Nokia one with rSap), but keep the same SIM card then it is easier to re-pair the devices as the car recognises the sim card, sees that it is...

Re: SD card

The SD card only plays MP3. CD Changer (RCD510) will also play MP3 files copied onto a CD, but not other formats. Itunes AAC / MP4 files will play via a USB stick plugged into the MMI connector. I use a Samung S1 mini HDD drive plugged into the USB for my Itunes music. Very fast access to the music ...

Re: Tyre Pressure light on dash

Agree with the above comment regarding checking the pressures. Mine has activated twice in just over a year, both times after driving down the same dual carriageway with lots of roundabouts, so I put it down to heat build up in the front tyres. But I did stop and check all the tyres both times. The ...

Re: Rock the Roc

SD card will only play MP3, but via the USB stick you can play AAC (M4a) files it you just copy and paste the songs / folders from your iTunes music directory. Mine are 320K M4a and play OK. I now use a Samsung S1 Mini 120GB HDD drive rather than a USB memory stick, all depends how much music you wa...

Re: windscreen Condensation

It's all to do with the way the air con / heating system works. The A/C cooling side will always create some condensation intermally as it cools (and dries) the air and this normally just falls off into in internal drip tray and then exits a small hose under the car. (Hence the pool of water under t...

Re: Air con recharge

I've had two cars with A/C and haven't needed a recharge. I had each of the cars for 4 years. But the G/F's Fiesta has just needed a recharge after just under 4 years. The symptoms were the compressor clicking in and out every 10 seconds on so when stopped in traffic and very little cooling. £50 at ...

Re: Interior Lights Flickering!

In any electrical circuit, if there is a sudden surge in load (amps) then you're going to get some volt drop and this may be noticable in other adjacent circuits, particularly where there are dimmable lamps such as those in the footwells. Any electrical motor (such as the window motor) has a startin...

Re: Grinding rear brakes?

Same noise here, started around 5k. Can be temporarily cured by gently pulling up the handbrake for 2-3 seconds when driving slowly. Guess it's a small ridge of rust that just needs to be removed. It's a similar noise to applying the brakes after the car has been washed or rain has got onto the disc...
