Re: What mileage to Rocco owners do a year?

Had mine for 3 1/2 years and had done 29Kish (miles) when traded in. So almost average mileage I guess. The Mini should be doing sod all miles, but our lovely facilities department haven't moved us back to the office that's about 2 miles away from home yet. Should have been in March, hence changing ...

Re: snow foam sort of seperated need new one

+1 for Avalanche - used for the first time today and best foam I've managed to get, actually sticks to the cars for a decent amount of time.

Re: Vibration from engine bay

Reading another thread just now made me wonder if I had updated this thread - turns out I hadn't. Eventually, after 7 months of being annoyed with the resonance, turned out to be that a piece of rubber around the bonnet stay had moved slightly and was causing the stay to vibrate when closed - so som...

Re: RCD510 - Am I doing it wrong?

No, only those with RNS510 and Bluetooth. Although Bluetooth might not be a requirement as it's possible to wire the mic direct to the RNS.

Re: Specialist cleaning v 'other methods'...

I use the excuse that it's only going to get filthy again the moment you move the car in this weather, so wait until it's got a bit better - I thought black was bad, but white in this weather is a disaster. A quick blast with pressure washer then snow foam to get rid of the worse of it every week, b...

Re: Heated seat Q....

One of the guys over on 'Net was looking at this when he replaced his interior - if you don't already have seats then the wiring isn't in place for heated seats. So you would need a new wiring loom and all the hassle that goes with that. Other electronics in the seat should be fine, just not the hea...

Re: Climate control panel

Well, as it happens ;-) I bought the new unit off ebay a few months ago and fitted to the car - it has a slight mark on the passenger side temp display but I've only ever noticed it in direct bright sunshine. Also have the centre console trim in piano black. Only selling as I'm trading the car in so...

Re: Climate control panel

Assuming you have a 2010 / 2011 car with full 2-zone climate control then yes - it's a straight swap plus new trim piece for the centre console as the gap between head unit and climate unit is reduced ever so slightly.

Re: Fraying Seat belt

VW replaced driver's seat belt under goodwill - can't fault the service received. Was expecting to have to fight to get it covered under the extended warranty and then pay the excess, but nothing.

Fraying Seat belt

Typical - the car's out to get me now that a trade-in has been agreed :( Noticed this evening that the driver's seat belt is fraying - couple of inches in length but seems quite bad. Passed its MOT back in August so either has only happened since then or the dealer didn't do a very good job on the M...

Got a trade in price against a Mini Cooper S - didn't intend to buy a new car today but these things just seem to happen.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?

Fitted a new differential pressure sensor as the it appeared to have failed - giving "implausible signal" error and emissions warning light on dash. Common part to fail across all brands in the group apparently.

Re: RCD to RNS queries

Voice control - do you have Bluetooth in the car? I think you would need to buy additional wiring to allow the star button on the RNS to work as by default the car will only have wiring from the mic to the Bluetooth unit. Parking sensors - this could be related to the firmware version on the unit. S...

Re: It's Here!

Holy thread resurrection etc..... :) But 3 years down the line, I'm surprised I still have the car. Normally I get bored after 18 months, the Scirocco seems different. Maybe it's cos it was specced to the hilt as a keeper or (and) maybe it's that it's a damn decent car that still people comment on. ...

Re: RCD Query, TIP Settings every time turned off?

Turn off TIM (or TIP - I thought it was TIM, but could be TIP now) in the settings.

What it's doing - trying to be clever so that when you next get in the car, if the local radio stations have had any traffic announcements you can play them before starting off and reroute if necessary.

They should do - provided you've not opened the door before you turn the knob.

That's some bad luck!

Wouldn't have thought that would be a write off on a less than 1 year old car.

Took it for the first MOT - even better that it was free as part of the service plan I haggled when buying the car, but didn't realise the first MOT was included.

Re: Gps reciever

Hi RW1, i seem to have the dummy aerial and i am contemplating buying an RNS 510. Do you know if people who tuck the GPS aerial under the dash have any problems with reception or functionality? :? Mine works perfectly well that way - signal strength never seems as strong as the nav factory fitted t...
