Re: 45F2 ABS/ESC safety recall

I'm about to take my early 2009 in for the recall and was wondering if the software update or new module if needed will mean that I will gain XDS? That would be a good outcome for me. Regards, Brendan

Re: Looking to buy but after the drive I wasn't impressed

Perhaps consider a 210hp and have a remap. I prefer my stage 1 revo to any r that I've driven.

Re: Thinking of kW ddc but what about steering mode

I'm concerned that the firmness of the kW ddc in sport mode may be too much on the back roads that I use everyday and then I'd be stuck in comfort or normal where I'm not so happy with the steering. Perhaps a set of ohlins would be a better bet but that's a lot of additional cost.

Thinking of kW ddc but what about steering mode

Hi, just thinking of adding kW ddc coilovers to my 2009 2.0 tsi but would like to fix the steering mode to sport whilst being able to change the suspension settings. Is anyone aware of this being possible?
Thanks, Brendan

Re: Question on handling

Hi, the steering was the only concern I had about my Scirocco when I bought it when it was 5 years old and had 50k miles on it. your description of the steering sounds possibly similar to my experience although my car was probably worse. I struggled with confidence as it was difficult to place the c...

Adjustable ball joints target geometry settings

Having had adjustable ball joints fitted I now want to get the geometry sorted. I wasn't convinced about the garage where I had the fitting done for geometry so will go elsewhere. What are fast road geometry targets with adjustable ball joints? As much camber as poss and more caster?

Thanks, Brendan

Re: Insurance

I found Sky very good for mods and a few points so would try them. They were somewhat cheaper than Flux and some others.

Re: clutch mooing main dealer price for change

Turns out to be a very small amount of oil depositing on the release bearing from an oil leak around the shaft from the gearbox. The new seal and labour is covered under warranty, I did argue that the clutch failure was as a consequence of this but no luck yet. I need to pay £355 for the clutch and ...

Re: clutch mooing main dealer price for change

Following a demonstration of the noise to one of the mechanics at the local VW garage I have left the car to have any work needed done. Only once the existing clutch and flywheel are examined will I know if it is under warranty. The mechanic suggested that it is most likley a release bearing and he ...

Re: clutch mooing main dealer price for change

If I have to pay i may go for an uprated clutch anyway as I plan a stage 1 remap in the future. Either way i will try the dealer for help this week and update after that.

clutch mooing main dealer price for change

Hi, I have a mooing clutch on my 2009 car that I have had for 3 months. It is an approved used VW and I hope it will be changed under warranty. However, with 52k on the clock this will be a tricky road. My local dealer will not give me a price to replace the clutch stating that they don't work like ...

Steering weight around mid position and bush change

One aspect of my Scirocco that I need to improve upon is the the lack of steeering weight/feel around 5 to 10 degrees from mid position i.e when turning through this zone the car does start to turn but it isn't until you rotate further that some weight comes on and you can therefore be confident tha...

Re: brake changes for improved feel and linearity

I think I will try new pads and discs all round. Does anyone know if I will need pr code 1kd or 1ke discs? There isn't a pr code for the rear on my service sticker, brembo have it as a 1ke and tarox as ke or kd.

Thanks, brendan

Re: brake changes for improved feel and linearity

i hadn't thought of an electronic change but i will look into this. There are a couple of threads about grabby brakes on the GT and how the R is better in this way so i wll see if there are any ideas from this. Any other ideas?

brake changes for improved feel and linearity

I'm 2 months in to my first Scirocco ownership and one of my concerns is that the brakes are over servoed at the top of the pedal travel and the rest of the travel doesn't really give a linear progression of braking force. I don't really want a big brake kit although if this was the only way to addr...

I have just used tyreleader for 4 Avon zz5 and their service was excellent. £387 for 4 18 inch tyres was the best I could find.
