Re: Key fob battery?

For anyone reading this later like me. There seems to be some debate over the correct battery correct. Some say OEM is cr2025 (USA références I’ve seen). In our 2010 UK Scirocco both keys had cr2032 batteries as does our Golf mk6. The cr2025 and cr2032 are the same apart from thickness. The cr2032 i...

Re: Reversing sensors

I've seen an intermittent fault (water ingress) on one sensor on VCDS. As it wasn't permanent I don't know whether it affected the operation of the whole system. I just did a quick search and found the sensors for sale individually, so you may be in luck.

Re: advice on purchasing new scirocco tdi - high mileagae

In terms of dpf etc if it's local driving mixed with motorway/long distance journeys would that still be okay? That's my understanding yes. More detail info. here: https://uk-mkivs.net/topic/31023-dpf-regeneration-information-must-read-for-all-drivers-of-dpf-equipped-cars/" onclick="windo...

Re: Which Professional Detailer to go with?

I had my Golf done by Paul Dalton. It was considerably cheaper 7 years ago (although I do remember trying to haggle a bit by reducing the work and the price went up ;-) ). He applied Exo when it was quite new. On a year old silver car, the difference after correction was not staggering but Exo (or s...

Re: Detailing Thoughts

Can't help much on the best approach to correction/polishing as I'm a newb to it and found similar when I tried on our black Scirocco. I would suggest however that for wipe down you use a mixture of IPA and distilled water rather than neat IPA. I had the same issue as you with IPA just smearing and ...

Re: Using Leaf Blower to Dry Car

Waffle weave drying towels work for me - fast and effective. As long as your wash technique is good and the car is actually clean then they don't cause marring. I suppose blowers may help drive water out of hidden spots, but I've never felt the need to add this kind of complexity.

Re: TDI 174 Fuel Consumption...

I have a Golf MK6 GTD 170 and a Scirocco 170 - both get about 45 mpg in mixed use with two different drivers. At the risk of teaching you to suck eggs, it's worth playing with when you change up. Peak torque is ~2000, so revving the nuts of it is pointless and will burn fuel. The beauty of these is ...

Re: advice on purchasing new scirocco tdi - high mileagae

170 owner here (had it 7 years). Basic history and oil changes obviously important on any turbodiesel. Would also add that you should try to get an idea of how it's been driven to work out what state the DPF may be in. i.e. has it just had lots of short town drives or does it get some longer runs fo...

Re: New alloy wheel centre covers

I replaced on my Golf (can't remember if I've done our Scirocco). They're looking tatty again (but probably lasted as long as originals), but these are now cheap to replace and do smarten things up.

Just had this happen on day 2 of ownership, so thanks to this thread we got in again - panic averted. Thanks.
