Re: The countdown has begun..

Flicking through the various trim levels, powertrain and engine options i found myself drawn to a 330d M Sport Saloon. :fall: Four doors, 0-60 in 5.6, qouted 50+ MPG vs 34 for the Roc, £105 tax, I needed to investigate further and soon booked a test drive. From this point on what seemed to be a stro...

Re: The countdown has begun..

Sorry, this is long winded..........thought someone might be interested in reading. Feel free to doze off. I've been in dialogue with my local dealers, a bunch of brokers and some people who've sourced cars for me in the past. I've also trawled the nearly and used cars on the net, everything from As...

The countdown has begun..

to my Scirocco R exiting stage left......... I've had five cracking years with the Scirocco, 2.5 yrs with the GT and the same with the R and i've not regretted it for a minute. I've loved both cars and i will be sad to see the R go in around 7 weeks time or potentially sooner. I was thinking of orde...

Re: GT upgrade to an R?

Same for me, nearly 3 years in a DSG GT followed by 2 years in my R. Both great cars but I have absolutely no regrets about making the move. Still puts a huge smile on my face. Yes the dash is all a bit too familiar now but the little R touches and minor MY upgrades will still be noticeable. Maybe g...

Re: Replacement wheels for Scirocco

As others have said, with 19's and 35 profile tyres you are more at risk than with the standard 18's. I've had pothole punctures on my GT with 18's and R with 19's over the same mileage. My pal with a GT and 18's has also had this problem. I'm afraid the more miles you do, the areas you drive in and...

Re: New Tyres

Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's all the way for me! Used these on my last car (Leon FR - they came highly reccomended from a forum) and was very impressed - quiet, comfy, great grip in dry and wet, they also have a pretty large rim protector so offer very good protection for your alloys. If I had to give a...

Re: Headlining cleaning

We design & manufacture headliners for JLR / VW and other OEM's. I tend to use Ambersil Ambercleanse whenever we have an issue. You can buy it on the net or at your local RS components. Spray on, allow a few seconds to penetrate then dab off. Try not to rub the stain. This is recommended by the ...

I had this problem with my first Roc. VW replaced the mechatronics unit under warranty and this fixed the issue. No problems with the R so far.

Re: Strange behaviour from Sat Nav

You didn't touch the map with your finger at any point in the journey did you? This stops the map tracking your progress and stays put on that location. A symbol appears in top rh corner of screen which centres the map on your position. Looking at all the lengths you went to , to reset the unit I gu...

Re: Costs

Just replaced two front tyres @ 12000 miles. £380 for a pair of 19's. Insurance around £650. I have Service pack so this was taken care of. Since new I have averaged 26 mpg, but I do "drive it". 35 is achievable on a motorway run with the cruise on. It is a great all rounder, not sure wher...
