Re: Power mirror fold using the fob ? EDIT -You need Vag Can

It works just like the auto-close on the windows:

Quick press of lock - Doors lock
Long press of lock - Doors lock, windows close, mirrors fold

Re: Suspension Level Sensors?

2. Is there any calibration required once changed? Offcially, yes callibration is required. In practice I've not noticed any ill effects by not doing it. The procedure for performing the calibration with a VCDS/VAGCOM cable is here: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Scirocco_(13)_Suspensi...

Re: Map Update will I also need to update Firmware

You can use any map version on any firmware version so no need to update first. When you put the new map disc in you will get a prompted to choose whether you want the map run off the DVD or whether you want it installed to the HDD. As the RNS510's are notoriously picky about which DVD's they will r...

Re: Bluetooth media won't connect but call will

Some of the bluetooth modules are capable of being connected to 2 devices at once, 1 for phone and 1 for media. It may be that it's got itself in a muddle. If you go into the bluetooth settings on the mfd there will be a section for Media Player. in there will be options to show paired devices and a...

Re: MIRROR INDICATOR PROBLEM

Hi Gordon, Sorry it's taken a day or two for me to test, but I've managed to replicate the situation you have described on my own car now, so the following should be a fix for you: The quick answer to what is going on is that the door controller in your passenger door has either been taken from a le...

Re: MIRROR INDICATOR PROBLEM

The door controllers manage all electrical functions for the door they are installed in. For some reason the door controller on the passenger side thinks it is installed in the drivers side. I think this may be a simple setting issue on the passenger door controller, but will need to do some testing...

Re: MIRROR INDICATOR PROBLEM

Hi Gordon,

I suspect that there may be an issue with the passenger door controller. Does your OBD reader allow you to read out the settings of the controllers, or just fault codes?

Re: RNS510 the artist and track name has disappeared?

Normally when this happens the music app on your phone has had an update and they've broken the track display. Amazon Music started doing this for me a few weeks back, other apps are fine. it normally gets fixed in a future app update

Re: Scirocco roof bars, what a joke!!!

The metal clamps should have a plastic/rubber coating on them as Lee as said.

Once this coating becomes damaged it just peels off leaving black painted metal. If you've bought yours off ebay, this may have happened to them and the previous owner has just removed it to tidy them up.

Re: Window wont go down so door can be opened/closed

I created this tool for someone else who was having issues with their door coding: https://jsfiddle.net/yv8oqe1z/2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If the passenger door is working properly, you can do the following: * Get someone to read the coding from the passenger door a...

Re: Loose pipe in wheel arch

it's the drain from the bottom of the filler flap. If you want to do it yourself, drop out the wheel arch liner, then route the pipe back up to the filler flap, there should be a hole to push it through so it sits just slightly recessed directly below the filler neck.

Re: Cruise Control

I think the reason VW are reluctant to fit it to newer cars is that pre MY2010 it was easy, you only ever needed the one stalk, it could be dropped in and coded up worked every time. Everyone pays the same price, simple. Post MY2009 things became more awkward: Some early cars still had the split sta...

...It may be possible to set the alarm off with shock to the cars bodywork or movement, for example if it was jacked up to steal the wheels.... I've set the alarm off jacking the car up while it was locked. It seemed to go off angle rather than shock as it didn't sound until the wheel was well off ...

There's not a lot of info about the various firmwares on that link, several satnav/car forums have a thread titled "VW RNS 510 & Skoda Columbus - FIRMWARE GUIDE & DOWNLOADS" that contains a lot of useful information in the first post about which headunits can take which firmware.

I had a broken spring on the clutch that caused a similar noise, get it looked at ASAP, my car had to have a new clutch, flywheel & gearbox because the spring had gouged the casing.

Re: VW Genuine Roofbars Help

hi ben, you're correct the front bar is the longer one, and it should have the clamps with the slots cut in. it's an easy job to swap them over, just unscrew the bolt all the way and the clamp will come off. there should be some plastic washers in there too, be careful not to lose them when swapping...

Yes, once the painted cover and mirror glass are removed the plastic cowling clips out - do the caps com...

it was approx £300 to have the ignition switch replaced on mine. Having read about it since as long as you don't need to change the lock barrel it should be possible to DIY the switch which would be much cheaper.
