Re: Emissions recall

Has anyone had their diesel scirocco seen to? In particular I'd be interested to hear from anyone with a 170 DSG and if there has been any adverse affects appearing after having the fix applied.

Is it tar or iron fallout? Can't quite make it out

Worth trying something like iron-x as well?

Re: Frameless doors?

Have a look at "Gummi Pflege". It's like a lubricant for the rubber and is supposed to prevent or at least minimise the window sticking to the rubber in frozen temps. Apply it to the top of the door seal and the rubber edges between the door and the window. Even if the battery is dead, you...

Re: Inside information regarding 4th generation Scirocco

I guess they'd try to pitch something against the likes of the Evoque, but they are very late to that market

I can't see them ditching the Scirocco personally, but it might not be as high on the priorities for being updated.

Re: NW Servicing recommendation

If you're not fussed about main dealer stamp, then Awesome GTI in Irlam are VAG specialists and they've always done a good job with my older cars. Probably a bit more pricier than the other independents though.. As for main dealers I use Inchcape in Manchester, again pricey but have found them to do...

Re: Flat battery followed by electronic issues.

sounds like it's reverted to transport mode, and some things being disabled would fit in with that. VCDS or a dealer should be able to disable it, not sure why it would have happened in the first place mind.

Re: Key fob issues, help!

Have you tried the reset procedure?

- Remove driver's door handle keylock cover.
- Press unlock on the fob.
- Within one minute, insert the key into the driver's door handle lock and unlock

So he sells cars in his spare time?

Sounds fishy to me.. is he a private seller, or a company selling cars privately on the sly to avoid tax/comeback etc..

Re: Life Lesson - Don't use Jetwash brushes!!!

If it's not practical for you to wash your car, I would take it to a detailers who offer a "service" wash. Might be a bit more pricey than the hand car wash places you get everywhere, but at least they won't do anything that might damage the paint.

Re: Repaired roc bad fit on hood? Would you accept this?

No, it's clearly sitting too proud and possibly a little too far over on one side. Straight away the gap between the wing and the bonnet should be the same as the A pillar, with the edge of the bonnet getting closer to the wing the further it gets to the front lights. It just looks as though they've...

Re: App Connect Retro Activation

There were apparently 2 versions of the MIB2. The early one wont allow retro activation. The more recent version should be able to handle dealer activation. As long as it actually gives you the option to enter the software key your unit sounds capable. I would try another dealer...

Re: Emissions recall

Had a little inside info.... The vast majority won't be software changes. There will be hardware changes too. In the most extreme it will mean cylinder head replacements on some variants Friggin ell I hope not, a new cylinder head would be tragic. Engines are never the same after that. Might as wel...

Re: New R for Christmas for a Scirocco newb

It'll still be a 65 plate and a 2016 car, a few days won't make any difference to resale, in any case OP is leasing.

By that logic you'd be forever putting off collection for the sake of a few days/weeks.

Get it and drive it ;)

On the plus side, if they slow down development of the Scirocco, it means you will have the newest shape car for longer :)

Re: Alarm

Are you sure the alarm didn't go off? It only sounds for a few minutes in any case as it's a legislation thing, so it may have been going off but when you realised the damage it wasn't sounding. The indicators/lights (not sure which) would probably still be flashing.
